Inspired by ancient artisan jewelry design, the Chakarr Jewelry collection delivers authentic and unique statement pieces for today’s modern woman. By employing century old traditions of metal-smithing and casting, each piece of Chakarr Jewelry is constructed completely by hand around specific gemstones or meaningful charms, making each a one-of-a-kind piece of art. The entire collection is made in Istanbul, Turkey by a handful of local artisans under the design direction of Ferzan Cakar.

Chakarr Jewelry was founded by Benan Cakar in New York in 2009 with the vision of introducing her designer mother, Ferzan Cakar's jewelry collection into the United States.

"Growing up in such a historical and diverse city as Istanbul, you have to reflect that authenticity in your art." says Ferzan Cakarr, Designer and Co-Founder.

Istanbul is rich in ancient culture and beauty as it is the only city in the world that has been a capital city to various different empires throughout the ages; Ancient Greece, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. In design, Ferzan combines this legacy and beauty with a touch of modernity – to achieve this very unique look that reflects the inner magnificence today's women.

Chakarr Jewelry designer, Ferzan Cakar, has creative instincts have led her into many different forms of art expression throughout her life. After graduating from Fine Arts in Istanbul, she has painted, sculpted, and eventually found her niche in designing jewelry by 1998. As a designer it is Ferzan’s passion to bring the beauty of art into the lives of those who wear her jewelry. She truly creates wearable art.  From the beginning her work was recognized for its distinctive look with pieces that are rich in culture but have a modern influence. She initially developed a strong following in local art galleries and stores within Turkey. After collaborating with a major fashion company in 2001 her work gained notoriety throughout Europe.

Today their small workshop nestled in Istanbul produces stunning handcrafted pieces that are now worn throughout the world.
